Seeing Sounds.... Album Review...

On June 10th 2008, N.E.R.D. dropped their third album "Seeing Sounds" Pharrell Williams , Chad Hugo and Shae Haley decided to end their 3 year hiatus and it was time to kill the music game. When it was time to drop single these songs turned into hits "Everybody Nose (All Girls Standing Line for the Bathroom)" and "Spaz" the song which feature on the Microsoft Zune commercial.

From girls, crazy people, love and haters, N.E.R.D. take us on a journey of crazy drum loops, simple guitar chord and random sax riffs to magnify characters in these songs that we can identify with.

Front to back this album has you laughing, moving and frequently askin, "what did he just say?"

Being a huge fan of music, a hip hop fanatic and rock/alternative head I can definitely say the over saturation and commercialization in the industry has you fiendin for something that is neither of these. "So much sound like dirt today/Turn on the radio and it make you thirst away." I couldnt put it better than Pharrell and N.E.R.D as they defend their position, and declare their legitimacy in this dog eat dog industry,with the bonus track "Laser Gun."

So as many of you know,(because I'm late apparently) Anthony David just drop his freshman album, Acey Duecy recently, with his hit single "Words" featuring the always bombdotcom India.Arie. Well today I got an email from my best friend (Biggups to Lamar) of the video. I know several blogs have posted this, but I just wanted to share my views on the situation.

Recently Ice-T called out Soulja Boy Tellem and said that he should eat a dick and he was killing hip hop. Really???

Lets rewind because that is like calling the kettle black. When the west coast gangsta rap hit the scene many cats were saying that NWA, Ice-T and all the otha cats was ruining the game, especially since they are the same artists that are accredited to introducing "bitch" and "ho" to hip hop.

Ice-T you got my respect but that your ignorant for your statements.

Seeing Sounds

N.E.R.D.'s Seeing Sounds is definitely one of the BEST albums of the summer. From the beginning to end the group has you encapsulated with catchy hooks, futuristic and experimental production only the Neptunes could actually get away with.

This album is definitely a must cop for the summer....

I am BLESSED what can I Say.....

Being in Oxford Ohio doesnt usually call for the GREATEST birthday celebrations (though i've had some great fun... hehe), but on my 22nd I had fun. It was mostly a relaxed day.

However, I was more excited that I woke up in an unusually un-depressive mood so i decided to clean my house after not cleaning for like weeks (really bad for business i might add). Then my sister friend came by and we kicked it (later on join my another ride or die).

From the swimming pool to the photo shoot and short short documentary, the almost tear jerking cards, money (Thank ya LAWDY!!!) 22 candles in the ice cream, five candles actually being lit, gifts, hot salsa with slamming chips and the premiere of American Best Dance Crew.

It was ALL good. I have feeling however, that my celebrations are not over... I have a knack for celebrating my b-day for like 3 months (21st had 3 parties and then some until august....hehe the memories)

This was truly an unforgettable day...

I think God that I have lived to see 22 years. I am also grateful that I have been surrounded by the bomb family and friends that held me down all these years (effie white line...LOL!).

Though I wanted the to Lakers to win, the Celtics showed in Game 6 that they deserved the title. At the end of the day I cant hate on the KG and Paul Pierce or the fact the Ray Allen couldnt see worth a damn but wanted to be a part of the win.

Congrats to Celtics and Congrats to Boston in the past couple years, Boston has come through and won after being losers for decades first breaking the curse with in baseball then when the 17th title on June 17th. It was all worth the wait!!

So for all the cats that THOUGHT the Lakers were gonna get swept by the Celtic, sorry but you need to get ready to work on the corners to pay the practical basketball fans back. Yes, the practical fans are the Laker fans. I know the team demographic has changed so much in the past 5 years that most people cant get with the players. But did you really believe that Kobe, Fisher and Odom was going let Garnett and Pierce get the win at the Staples Center.... That concept is actually funnier than a Dave Chapelle skit.

So as we fly back to the east coast clover fans remember this, Lakers are making history and they deserve the ring I mean the MVP plays in LA....

So being back in Oxford has proved to be no more interesting than my time back home in Cols. Though I am not surprised, it has inclined me to be more devastated. For the past week I still have not gotten anything accomplished concerning my academics, and have been so depressed I have contemplated actually applying for grad school. Because this city is so boring and pretty much a facade I really feel like I have been a prisoner in my own house.

I hate Oxford and more so the fact that I have to be here another year...
